Role of a teacher in a student’s life

Teachers have a critical influence in the lives of students. As a teacher, it is your responsibility to bring out the best in your pupils and encourage them to achieve greatness. Students are seen as the nation's and humanity's future, and a teacher is seen as a trustworthy guide for their development. Teachers are responsible for creating a child's future, making him or her a better human being, in addition to guiding them in academics and extracurricular activities. A teacher instills in students information, good values, tradition, modern-day issues, and solutions to them. Students benefit from having an excellent instructor.
The presence of a teacher in a student's life may enhance their morale and help them become more important in life.

What can I do now that we were not able to do a year ago?

Since one year ago after spread-out of Covid-19 virus, it felt like a welcome break from the everyday grind. But as the time pass I observed the hardness, stressful and difference in our live during pandemic, we feel the value of the blessings that we had after we deprived from going outside for work, meeting or comforting time. During the pandemic, I had a lot of time to think about myself and my improvement techniques; I realized that a lot of my skills and thinking have been enhanced since last year. I was also able to discover new technological tools, which has contributed to developing my skills. I had finished my bachelor online and registered teaching diploma in order to improve my skills in teaching. Some times I felt frustrated and overwhelmed  since I didn't engaged totally during online session and online learning still weird with respect to the learners and teachers but as the time pass and after registering  teaching diploma and I can applied a lot of  improved skills in my teaching and I can able to use a lot of applications and tools to enhance my teaching and to assist the understanding of the students so I feel more confident and successful however since one year I didn't have ingenuity in those skills and I faced the difficulties in planning the lessons, engaging the students and managing the class but after my new experience that I had I learned and improved a lot. I benefits from the experience that I passed through since I believed in myself and my abilities that I can achieve everything I aspire to, so I think that every person can improve his character and confidence if he is really want and if he believe in his/herself he can do it but the most pivotal thing is to be yourself.

Challenges you face when learning/teaching online

In the year 2021, the educational system has evolved to include online schooling. When schooling initially shifted online because to covid19 constraints, everyone thought it would be a one-time adjustment, but over a time later, schools are still operating online. The world is still dealing with the effects of the pandemic, and education will continue to be delivered online for the foreseeable future. In comparison to 2019, there has been fast online development and changes in the manner that online education is taught.

There are several challenges when working with pupils who are only available online.

Passive Students

Online education, unless well created with deliberate instructional design decisions, can sadly turn students into passive learners. These disengaged students may absorb the required lecture content and pass their exams, but they seldom apply what they've learned outside of the virtual classroom or establish connections with previously taught information. Because pupils require several contacts with new content in order to completely digest and assimilate it, this is the case. Students must be involved in the quality, breadth, and depth of their learning in order for it to be genuinely effective.

Making contact with students

One of the difficulties with online classrooms is that most of the learning is done asynchronously, and students frequently feel cut off from their teacher and colleagues. It's tough for instructors to teach online when they don't know how well their students are grasping course material or participating in learning activities.

Collaboration is encouraged.

One of the most critical aspects of successful online education is student interaction. One of the most difficult aspects of teaching is doing it well. Collaborative involvement inspires learning and encourages a more in-depth and critical understanding of the subject matter. Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of online learning is that teamwork is difficult to establish when students are not physically present at the same time. Many debate topics do not encourage natural discourse. Because posts are asynchronous, formal replies to prompts, the mandated "class discussion" that incorporates other students' viewpoints is understandably forced. Rather than group activities, such forums are more analogous to written response papers.

As a result of the mentioned challenges, every teacher must learn to overcome them to the greatest extent feasible and to keep the attention of his or her students to the best of his or her ability. With the right technology these issues may be efficiently remedied. Initially, online lessons were held using a variety of readily accessible and free software that was not specifically created for the purpose. More specialized software solutions are now available, which give a significantly more complex and interesting teaching/learning experience.

What students should be taught when working online to avoid problems?

Because of internet, students are more linked than ever before. Being "always on" can be beneficial since it allows young people to learn and connect with others more easily than they did as children. It does, however, have drawbacks, just like any other communication medium. It is the responsibility of all people in a child's life to teach them about internet safety. However, as their instructor, you're in a unique position to assist them. Here are some tips for teaching youngsters how to use the internet securely.

- Teach students on the importance of online privacy.

Kids nowadays are usually aware of the dangers of sharing passwords or addresses online; nevertheless, there are new concerns that they may not be aware of. Spend some time talking with your pupils about how their favorite websites and applications keep their data.

- Students should be given resources.

There are many educational services available, but not all of them are reliable. Before recommending or using educational materials, conduct research to ensure that others have had a favorable experience in terms of security, internet safety, and privacy

- Technical Foundations

To excel as an online learner, you'll need some fundamental technological abilities. The capacity to create new documents, utilize a word processing application, surf the Internet, and download software are among them.

New student orientation sessions are available at the majority of online schools. These classes educate students how to use the school's learning management system and other online resources, but they rarely address the fundamentals. If you lack fundamental computer abilities, you might wish to look for an online tutorial, such as The Library Network's.  You could also look at the main website of the online school to see what kind of gear and software they require. Check to see whether your machine fits those specifications.

- Time-management abilities that work

You must be able to effectively manage your time. The majority of courses are not delivered in real time. Classes do not have specific timings.

One of the many advantages of online learning is its flexibility. It can also be a disadvantage for a student who procrastinates, is unable to keep to a regular study plan, or is unable to finish tasks without the help of a teacher on a daily basis.

Effective time management abilities do not appear out of nowhere. It is necessary to learn them. Once you've done that, you'll reap the benefits for the rest of your life. To improve yours, use the following advice:

  • Examine the course syllabi for each of your classes. Make a long-term strategy for finishing your important responsibilities.
  • Make a "To Do" list for each day. Enjoy crossing items off the list as you finish them.

It takes time to form healthy habits, but being well-organized and fulfilling your goals can provide you comfort.

How to be a digital citizen?

Digital Citizen: A person who has the knowledge and abilities to effectively utilize digital technology to connect with others, engage in society, and produce and consume digital material.

Digital Citizenship is defined as a confident and beneficial use of digital technology. Students will be able to build a grasp of the following ideas as a result of learning about digital citizenship:

  •   Information literacy and digital literacy
  •  Internet security, privacy, and safety·
  •  Cyberbullying, relationships, etiquette, and communication are all issues that need to be addressed.
  • Copyright and creative credit.
  • Digital imprint.

As we see nowadays internet becomes an integral part of our everyday life. Although the Internet has made life easier, keeping up with its rapid progress may be challenging and at times stressful for everyone, especially children. However, it has also opened new avenues for getting into trouble. These  suggestions can help your children become a decent digital citizen.

1. Make a pleasant digital impression:

The use of social media and the Internet in general has both beneficial and bad consequences. Anything that is placed there may become a part of a student's online presence, both those components that she deliberately curates and those that are mistakenly left behind.

If kids are taught how to be good digital citizens, their online behaviors will not come back to haunt them when it comes time to apply to universities or start jobs.

2.Always be pleasant (and encourage others to be nice, too).

Cyberbullying is a serious issue. Instead of confronting a peer and mocking or harassing them, youngsters use social media. This might happen in front of the student's eyes, or it could happen behind her back. However, if a rumor about (or an unpleasant photo of) another person is circulated online, it has the potential to negatively damage the subject's social life, emotional and mental health, and academic achievement.

Students should practice treating one other with the same respect they show in person while they are online. Students should be reminded to think twice before sharing anything on the internet. Every time they reference someone else online, they should ask themselves the following question.

3.Don't take anything without permission.

Plagiarism and other unlawful or unethical appropriation of someone's work should be avoided at all costs by students. Handing in a paper or homework assignment that contains words or ideas copied from another source is not only considered cheating, but it may also be regarded a criminal violation punishable by law in some situations.

Even when students snap images of other people and publish them on social media, it's customary to get permission first. Once a shot is taken, it has the ability to go anywhere.

It's absurd to expect kids to give up social media (or the Internet in general) for school or employment, and I'm not saying that they should. Maintaining a healthy, pleasant, and clean online profile, on the other hand, will assist your child in staying out of problems with the police, her peers, instructors, and possible bosses.

Online Assessment's Tools

To avoid leaving anybody behind, teachers need to assess how effectively pupils are absorbing teachings. You must also evaluate each student at the conclusion of each term or semester and assign a final mark that reflects their comprehension and effort.

Online assessment eases quick and unambiguous information  on candidate results and progress. This makes it easy to provide applicants with valuable input on how they should work. Teachers' online assessment tools are an important aspect of the remote learning picture. You must know what your students comprehend from one day to the next. If you know what their learning gaps are, you can tailor your lectures to address them.

Some of online assessment's tools:       - Google form

Integrating Technology into Teaching

Technology allows us rapid access to knowledge, which is why it is so important in the classroom. Technology is increasingly being used in the classroom by teachers and students to provide relevant learning experiences.

The use of technology to enhance a student's learning experience is referred to as "integration of technology in education." Learners who are actively engaged with learning objectives are created when different forms of technology, including a virtual classroom, are used in the classroom. The use of technology also opens up opportunities for customized learning to address the requirements of students as individuals.

Although there is a popular misperception that integrating technology into the classroom might be costly for school systems, children need not need their own tablets or laptops to be successful with technology. Auditory and visual learners can benefit from the use of technology during whole-class instruction. Simple technology such as Power Points, games, internet homework assignments, and online grading systems may make a significant difference in students' classroom progress.
